Real Madrid want Van de Beek included in Varane’s £50m move Manchester United

Real Madrid want midfielder Donny Van de Beek on loan as part of any deal involving Manchester United and defender Raphael Varane, according to reports.

It had been previously reported that United were weighing up a summer move for centre back Varane, having been given encouragement that he was ready to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season given his contract ends in 2022.

Dutch midfielder Van de Beek, meanwhile, struggled for game time in his debut season at Old Trafford following his £40million move from Ajax last summer, playing only half of United’s Premier League matches, scoring just once.

And according to The Sun, Real want to include Van de Beek in United’s deal for Varane, with a commitment to buying the 24-year-old when his loan spell ends next summer.

The report claims Varane will be worth around £50million to United, who believe the offer of the unwanted Van de Beek will help the negotiations end positively.

Van de Beek was strongly linked to Real when the midfielder left Ajax last summer but the 24-year-old opted to pick a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

But the player’s United career is yet to kick start, despite making 36 appearances for the Red Devils last term.

Real Madrid are plotting Carlo Ancelotti’s first transfer window back in the Spanish capital, which will see stalwart Sergio Ramos leave the club this summer on a free transfer.

Fellow defender Varane has been at Real for a decade, winning three LaLiga titles, four Champions League trophies and four FIFA Club World Cups with the Spanish giants, who he has played 359 times for since his Los Blancos debut.

But Real could be tempted to cash in on Varane, leaving defenders Eder Militao and Nacho and new signing David Alaba as the only recognised centre-backs at the club.

United are welcoming Jesse Lingard back this summer following his loan spell at West Ham last term and signed fellow attacking midfielder Juan Mata to a new contract this week.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos coming back from loan spells at Arsenal.
