Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard has praised Marcus Rashford, describing the Manchester United prodigy as “an incredible player”.
Odegaard and Rashford faced each other last night as England Under-21s thrashed Norway 6-1, with the United forward catching the eye by scoring a hat-trick on his first appearance at that level.
Odegaard told The Sun: “He is an incredible player as we saw. And we have seen that in the Premier League too.
“So I think he is just an incredible player.”
Rashford has enjoyed a tremendous rise since breaking into the United first- team last season and was part of the England squad at Euro 2016.
There were suggestions that the 18-year-old, who has an average pass accuracy of 89% in the Premier League this season, should keep his place in the England senior side, but new manager Sam Allardyce elected to allow the starlet to develop with the U21s for now.
As far as Odegaard is concerned, the midfielder’s career certainly hasn’t worked out as expected since his switch to Real Madrid in January 2015.
Odegaard has featured prominently for Real Madrid’s Castilla side and has produced some impressive performances at that level, but nobody would have anticipated a couple of years ago that, at this stage in proceedings, Rashford would be the more prominent player.
Rashford will hope to make a major impact when United face rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford this weekend.
