Real Madrid’s Captain Leave For Italian Newcomers Next Season

Luka Modric,  Real Madrid legend and captain, appears to be on the approach of making a huge career move.

According to Fichajes, the Croatian midfielder has agreed to sign a free agency contract with Italian club Como for next season.

This decision marks the potential end of his remarkable career at Real Madrid, since the player has already informed club president Florentino Perez of his intentions.

At over 40 years old, Modric, whose current contract expires in 2025, feels confidence in his ability to perform at a high level.

While Real Madrid no longer considers him part of their future team plans, the club has apparently shown an interest in him remaining in a new role after his playing days are done.

However, Modric, who has also been linked with a return to Croatia, wants to extend his playing career for at least one more season, and Como’s offer has piqued his interest for both sporting and personal reasons.

The club, located in the gorgeous Lake Como region, combines a desired lifestyle with an exciting football idea.

Como’s Prospect

Como’s current condition in Serie A complicates this potential relocation. Having recently returned to Italy’s top league, the team is battling to stay viable and is dangerously near to relegation.

Despite a promising start to the season, a string of disappointing results has placed their survival chances in risk. Como is currently on a nine-match winless drought, and their latest draw against Venezia has exacerbated their problems.

Modric is reportedly unwilling to join the team until they ensure their spot in Serie A for the following season. His possible arrival would not only provide world-class expertise, but would also act as a statement of intent for the club.

If Como can turn their fortunes around and remain among Italy’s top  flight, signing Modric could significantly enhance their credibility and competitiveness moving forward.
