Harry Redknapp has voiced his displeasure with the FA’s choice to name a foreign manager. The governing body appointed Thomas Tuchel as the head coach of the England national team in place of Gareth Southgate.
Later today at 1:30 pm, Tuchel will be presented during a news conference at Wembley. He brings a wealth of experience from coaching in the top level of European football to the Three Lions’ system.
Following brisk talks on Tuesday, the decision was made quickly, putting Tuchel in line to become the team’s third non-English manager, following Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
According to Daily Express, during a discussion with Sky Sports News, the former Spurs manager Redknapp, who won the FA Cup with Portsmouth and was previously considered for the England position, expressed his concerns: “He’s lost his job quite quickly at a couple of clubs.”
“It’s not like he’s been a massive success. He’s come and gone at a couple of clubs. I’m very patriotic, I think we should have an English manager but obviously the field was very small to choose from.”
Tuchel’s background, which includes coaching prestigious teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich and leading Chelsea to a Champions League title, proves his abilities despite Redknapp’s reservations.

The FA have previously declared that they were searching for the finest applicant regardless of nationality, even going so far as to approach Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.
Tuchel’s formal declaration is the most recent step in determining England’s future, as Lee Carsley is serving as the team’s interim manager through the autumn’s Nations League games.
