Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder turned pundit Jamie Redknapp claims former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue sends him text messages every single day in an attempt to convert him to Christianity.
In a bizarre revelation on Sky 1’s A League of Their Own, the broadcaster explained how Eboue is constantly attempting to convert him to Christianity.
The ex-England international says he’s slightly concerned by the barrage of messages from the Ivorian which sees him receive Eboue’s ‘thought of the day’ without fail once every 24 hours.
Speaking on Sky’s panel show, Redknapp read out the latest message from ex- Arsenal man: “The quote of the day: Do you think you’ve failed?
“With God, it is never too late for a new start.”
And with that the former England international desperately looks up and says: “Why is he picking on me?”
The two have crossed paths after their playing days because both their sons play junior football for the same youth side.
Often a figure of ridicule, Eboue managed to establish himself as something of a cult hero among Arsenal fans and this latest story serves as a reminder that the Ivorian hasn’t changed since hanging up his boots after a brief spell at Sunderland in 2016.
