Jamie Redknapp believes that Tottenham Hotspur are one of only three teams in the Premier League title race.
Spurs produced a sensational 2-0 win over table-toppers Manchester City this weekend, inflicting the first defeat of Pep Guardiola’s tenure.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have drawn widespread plaudits since, due to their high-energy style, newfound ability to cope with injuries, and well-balanced squad.
Sky Sports pundit Redknapp insists that the north Londoners and another of his former clubs, Liverpool, will be challenging for the prestigious trophy in May.
He also believes that, despite Sunday’s loss at White Hart Lane, City will be amongst the contenders.
The ex-midfielder told the Daily Mail: “Tottenham, Liverpool and City are the three best teams in the league. We’ll find a winner from those.
“There is such a long way to go but this has been a dream start for Spurs. Don’t underestimate what that does for their belief. They comfortably beat the team that everyone thought were going to walk away with the title.”
Redknapp’s choices exclude the high-profile trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, all of whom will be aiming to lift the title this season.
The latter pair have endured indifferent patches of form recently, following a disappointing 2015/16 under now-departed managers.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger’s side have strung together five successive wins in the top-flight, with a last-gasp 1-0 win over Burnley this weekend propelling Arsenal to third position.
