REPORT: Arsenal begin search for Wenger replacement as exit fears grow

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their search for a new manager amid growing fears that Arsene Wenger will not sign a new contract and leave the club at the end of this season.

The French tactician had been expected to put pen to paper on a new two-year deal until recent results have seen the situation sour at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s title challenge looks all but over after back-to-back Premier League defeats to Watford and Chelsea, which leave them twelve points behind the leaders.

Various big names have been identified as leading contenders to replace Wenger, with Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel and AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim joined by Massimiliano Allegri, who has recently emerged as the favourite and who is reported to have agreed a deal to leave Juventus this summer.

A turnaround in form could yet save Wenger at Arsenal, but there is a growing feeling that the fans will not tolerate another season without silverware, especially if the club do not make the top four.

According to the Daily Telegraph, this has led Arsenal to scour the continent for ideal candidates to come in next season, with Tuchel tipped as perhaps being most likely to accept an offer to leave his current club.
