Arsenal star Hector Bellerin is set to turn down a five-year contract worth £100,000-a-week from the Gunners in a bid to reunite with Pep Guardiola next summer.
Bellerin has emerged as the Premier League’s best right-back over the past 12 months and was rewarded for his excellent form by Arsenal, who increased his weekly salary to £50,000.
The Spaniard has recently been linked with a return to Barcelona, where he was a part of their famous La Masia academy and worked under Pep Guardiola.
According to The Times, Bellerin is keen to work with the Spanish coach once again and is set to turn down an improved new contract at Arsenal worth £100,000-a-week in a bid to earn a move next summer.
Making additions at full-back has been made a priority by Man City and Guardiola, as Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta – while lauded for their long service to the club – have all entered their thirties and will soon need replacing.
Bellerin, at the age of 21, is seen as an ideal capture, but he will need leave the Gunners easily considering he has over two years left on his current deal and Arsene Wenger is unwilling to sell any star players.
