Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants around £200million to invest in his side this summer with the Italian planning on
strengthening the spine of the team in the transfer window.
The 46-year-old spent around £140million during his first summer at the club and it’s paid dividends with the Blues currently holding a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
The Blues take on Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday night and, though Conte’s pleased with his squad, he wants to add ready-made starters to his first XI.
According to The Times, Conte is targeting a striker, a central midfielder, a centre-back and a right-sided defender to suit his 3-4-3 formation.
There’s been some suggestion that Conte is homesick and has failed to settle in London. Inter Milan are thought to be keen on speaking to him about taking over at the San Siro but Roman Abramovich is delighted with the Italian’s work so far in west London and wants to keep him at the club.
It means the Russian billionaire is likely to hand Conte the £200m budget that he’s seeking and Conte will be given the freedom to name his own targets.
Chelsea have been linked with moves for Leonardo Bonucci and Ben Gibson in defence, while Roma star Radja Nainggolan is also thought to be a target.
