Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez would prefer a move to Man United, if he was to leave this summer.
The Colombian moved to Real Madrid for £71 million after an impressive 2014 World Cup but the 24 year-old has struggled to cement his place in Los Blancos’ starting line-up this season.
The Spanish giants missed out on the La Liga title by just one point, coming second behind fierce rivals Barcelona. They do, however, have a Champions League final to contend with next Saturday where they face city rivals Atletico.
However, it would appear that the playmaker does not fit in Zidane’s preferred formation of 4-3-3 and could be seemed as surplus to requirements.
Despite not having the best of seasons this campaign Rodriguez would certainly attract a handsome transfer fee and Madrid’s hierarchy are reportedly weighing up the possibility of a sale.
ESPN FC report that should he be forced out of the Bernabeu, Rodriguez would prefer a move to the red side of Manchester.
The news will come as a boost to a club going through a dark stage in their history. However, the issue of transfers is reportedly complicated at Old Trafford, with no clear indication of who will be the manager next term.
The Premier League would certainly be a better place with Rodriquez in it though. The playmaker has made 26 league appearances this term and has scored seven goals in the process.
Despite only completing a full 90 minutes on seven occasions, James has created 60 chances for his team, including an impressive eight assists. Furthermore, the no.10 has completed 87% of his passes too.
It is this ability to create goalscoring opportunities that would see him fit perfectly at Old Trafford. United have created relatively little in the Premier League this season and have seemingly abandoned the club’s attacking philosophy.
