Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is line to sign a new deal with the club which would see him earn up to £14 million (€15.8m) a year, closer to the salary of teammate Neymar, according to reports.
The 29-year-old joined the Catalan giants in the summer of 2014 for a deal worth roughly £65 million and has repaid every single penny of that with some scintillating performances.
Suarez has netted a stunning 92 goals in 106 matches across all competitions for Luis Enrique’s side over the last three seasons and it is that sort of form which will see him rewarded.
Spanish news outlet Sport reveal that Suarez and Barcelona began negotiations over a new deal at the start of the summer, but the club managed to tie down Neymar first to a new contract which is yet to be announced.
Suarez is expected to follow the Brazilian superstar by putting pen to paper on a deal running up to 2020.
Suarez, whose deal currently expires in 2019 and sees him earn €10 million (£9m), will be given a significant pay-rise in the process.
