Report: Van Gaal’s future not discussed at Man Utd meeting

The future of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was not discussed by club officials during a meeting in London on Monday, per the Manchester Evening News.

Van Gaal’s tenure at Old Trafford has been under intense scrutiny, after the weekend defeat at home to Norwich City.

The 2-1 loss to the Canaries means the Red Devils have gone six games without a win in all competitions, and have fallen out of the Champions League places.

A meeting for United officials was held in London on Tuesday, per the report, which included the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, leading many on social media to speculate that the discussion could lead to the sacking of Van Gaal.

However, the article claims that rather than talking about the possible dismissal of the former Netherlands coach, Woodward and the others at the meeting were engaged in a commercial-related discussion.

It seems therefore that Van Gaal’s immediate future in Manchester is somewhat secure, but with tricky contests over the festive period against Stoke City and Chelsea, there is a chance the coach could be out of a job by the new year.

Many United fans have become disillusioned by Van Gaal’s philosophy at United. Although the club are dominating possession and passing, having made the most passes in the Premier League this season (9,255), only Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion have created fewer chances than the Red Devils (130).
