Manchester United are threatening to hijack Chelsea’s move for Monaco ace Tiemoue Bakayoko after telling the French giants they’ll better the Blues’ bid.
Bakayoko, 22, has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer but a small knee operation has delayed the Frenchman’s departure from Monaco.
Chelsea have been leading the way for the midfielder’s signature but United hijacked the Blues’ deal for Romelu Lukaku and are looking to do the same with Bakayoko.
Antonio Conte’s side have made a bid of around £37.5million for the midfielder but United have told Monaco they’ll better that offer with a bid of around £40m, according to the Daily Mail.
United have shown a strong interest in Chelsea ace Nemanja Matic but the club are worried the Blues will pull out of an agreement after the Red Devils stole Lukaku from under their noses.
That’s led United to target Bakayoko and the Frenchman now has a direct choice between the two sides.
