Jose Mourinho was spotted whispering into the ear of Tomofei Kalachev after the final whistle of Manchester United‘s 1-1 draw with Rostov in the Europa League – but it was all fun and games.
The Red Devils were held in the first-leg tie as Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s opener in the 35th minute was cancelled out by Aleksandr Bukharov’s equaliser just after half-time.
It was a fierce encounter at the Olymp-2 Stadium, in which referee Felix Zwayer handed out six yellow cards, and Mourinho appeared to take a particular disliking to Kalachev’s booking in the 73rd minute.
The United manager was seen lambasting the Belorussian midfielder but the pair made up following in the aftermath of the European clash.
‘I wanted you to get the yellow card!’ Mourinho told Kalachev before the sides made their way down the tunnel.
The Portuguese blasted Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in his post-match interview for their part in Rostov’s second-half goal.
‘It does not matter if you are leading 1-0, you have to be ready for everything,’ Mourinho told BT Sport.
‘We conceded the goal and there was a mistake but we have a second game to come.’
