RFU chief confident Jones will stay

Bill Sweeney, CEO of the Rugby Football Union, believes Eddie Jones will remain England coach until 2021. The Red Rose suffered World Cup final heartbreak on Saturday as a masterful display of steel saw South Africa triumph 32-12 in the final, despite the fact England were favourites. After the game, Jones refused to confirm whether or not he would be staying on. The Australian has a contract until 2021 with England but was coy on his future plans. However, Sweeney is confident Jones will be staying on to 2021, having signed a two-year extension back in January 2018. “He has been very clear [with us],” Sweeney told Sky Sports News. “We had that conversation before coming out to Japan and we had that conversation here. He is committed to seeing out his contract to 2021 and I will take him at his word for that. “We will wait for the dust to settle on this and we will have another chat about what that means.”
