Rhinos starlet targeting England cap

Leeds Rhinos teenager Harry Newman is targeting a full England cap but acknowledges he must impress with England Knights. The 19-year-old became the first player born this century to appear in Super League when he was handed his debut for the Rhinos two years ago. Newman has progressed through the ranks with the West Yorkshire side but has yet to cement a permanent place in the senior side. He caught the eye in the Championship last term during a dual-registration stint with Featherstone Rovers and has subsequently been called into the England Knights squad. They take on Jamaica at Emerald Headingley on Sunday and Newman wants to use the opportunity to bolster his chances of earning a full England cap. Newman said: “It was great to experience that, but now this is a step towards making my full England debut. “A goal of mine at the beginning of the year was to make the Knights and I have achieved that so I am really excited.”
