Castleford Tigers have signed stand-off Danny Richardson from Super League rivals St Helens for an undisclosed fee. Richardson managed 13 appearances for Saints last season in all competitions although he didn’t feature in the play-offs as they went on to win the Super League Grand Final. The 23-year-old has now joined Castleford on a three-year deal and Richardson is delighted to have joined the Tigers. “There were a few clubs enquiring about me for next year, but the minute my agent came to me and told me about Cas being interested I jumped at the chance and couldn’t wait to get the deal over the line,” he told the club’s official website. “The club’s 2017 season was great [Cas won the League Leaders’ Shield and lost the Grand Final] and the club have been building for a while. “With the coaching staff we have and the way other half-backs have developed whilst they’ve been at the club over the years, I thought that if there was a place for me to improve and get the best out of myself it was going to be with the Tigers.” Richardson has been signed to replace Luke Gale after he joined Leeds Rhinos.
