Although it took them 76 minutes to get going, the Brazilian was the one who carried Spurs to victory. It had been more than two years since a ball had been kicked in this competition at their great stadium.

Marseille had seemed comfortable until Chancel Mbemba was sent off just after halftime for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity by knocking out Heung-Min Son.
Even then, Spurs lacked any real conviction in their attacking play, and Antonio Conte’s team’s first shot on goal came from Richarlison’s header from 10 yards out.
Richarlison then displayed excellent finishing prowess to divert a Pierre-Emile Højbjerg cross in with another header, giving Spurs their second goal of the game.
