Rio Ferdinand Believes ‘No Way Back’ For Marcus Rashford After Ruben Amorim’s Comment

Rio Ferdinand has stated that he would be humiliated if he were Marcus Rashford, following Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s statement that he would rather have his goalkeeping coach in his matchday squad than the striker.
Rashford has not appeared for United since December 12, with Amorim leaving him out of the team for all games except one, in which he was an unused substitute.

After omitting the England international again on Sunday, when United won 1-0 at Fulham, Amorim referred to his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital, saying: “The reason (for Rashford’s absence) is training, what I believe a footballer should do in training, in life, and every day… I shall put Vital before I put (in) a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”  According To Telegram.

Ferdinand believes Rashford has “no way back” following that comment.

On his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, the former United defender said: “If I was that player that the manager said that about, my heart, pride, ego, and embarrassment.

“For someone to doubt your application, to question whether you’re going out there and giving your all for your team, (implying) that you’re going to slack off and take shortcuts.

“We all have days off or instances when we’re not doing well or lacking confidence, but effort isn’t something I’d want a manager to think I’m lacking.

“I’d love to sit across the table from Marcus, look in his eyes, and ask, ‘Can you say that? Could you have the confidence to go out and do that? Because if you can’t, look inside yourself.”
