After his side came agonizingly close to derailing Arsenal’s title drive last night, Rob Edwards said it was part of Luton’s game plan to target Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s flaws.
Mikel Arteta’s men needed a 97th-minute goal from the outstanding Declan Rice to win a seven-goal thriller at Kenilworth Road and go five points clear at the top.
The post-match celebrations were somewhat dampened by David Raya’s abysmal goalkeeping performance, which included two second-half blunders that gave the home team a 3-2 lead Reported by Goal.
Arteta avoided post-match questions on the performance of his summer signing from Brentford, but when asked if it was part of his pre-match team talk to exploit the Spaniard’s lack of confidence, Edwards gave a more telling answer.

Asked if could sense that Raya was rattled by Amazon Prime presenter Gabby Logan, Edwards said: We tried to, we wanted to make it as uncomfortable as possible for them.
‘We’ll probably have to be a little different away from home when we face them again, but here we have to use this location as a bit of a leveller and try to make these top teams and not give them the game they want.’
Meanwhile, Arteta preferred to focus on his team’s valiant comeback, which resulted in another injury-time winner.
‘I really enjoyed it, particularly the ending,’ he remarked. ‘The beautiful thing about football is the feelings and memories you share with so many people. It was a memorable evening.
Credit to Luton for the incredible atmosphere they created, the way they played, the way they were coached, they made life really difficult for us, but we found a win.
