Rodgers respecting Burton before EFL tie

Brendan Rodgers says his free-scoring Leicester side will treat Burton with respect in the EFL Cup but they’re “hungry” to progress in the competition. The Foxes go into the last-16 tie on Tuesday night at the Pirelli Stadium off the back of their astounding 9-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League on Friday night.
Rodgers’ side, who are third in the table after their amazing St Mary’s success, will be expected to maintain their momentum and see off the League One side, who are 13th in their division and drew 0-0 with Blackpool at the weekend.
Rodgers is expected to make at least a few changes to give some fringe first-team players a chance to impress in the Carabao Cup game but he will not be taking Nigel Clough’s third-tier outfit lightly, who he has watched closely before the tie. “They’re a good side,” Rodgers told LCFC TV. “They play 4-3-3 and have a good structure to the game – they pass the ball well.”
Rodgers has made it clear the Foxes are determined to stay on course for a possible appearance at Wembley and he says there is a desire within the squad to make sure they get the job done at Burton as they look to maintain their overall impressive form so far this term. City have won eight of their last 10 games in all competitions, losing only to Manchester United and Liverpool along the way, and it is shaping up to be a fine season for the 2016 Premier League champions.
Rodgers added: “It’s a chance for us to get to the quarter-finals of a major competition, so we’re going to be hungry to get there.”
Leicester have made it to the quarter-finals of the League Cup for the past two years but have then exited the competition in identical fashion – losing on penalties to Manchester City after both ties had ended 1-1.
