Roma Interested In Signing Chelsea Playmaker Hakim Ziyech?

Roma are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech during the January transfer window.

Ziyech has had a mixed season, with the clear standout moments coming on the international stage with Morocco, who reached the World Cup semi-finals.

However, Ziyech has spent considerable time away from Chelsea before being reintegrated after returning from representing the Atlas Lions.

With six appearances since the turn of the year, the 29-year-old has now made six starts and nine substitute appearances for the Blues in all competitions.

Nonetheless, Chelsea have been active in the transfer market this month, bringing in three new players for the final third who could challenge Ziyech for a starting spot.

While David Datro Fofana’s playing time may be limited at first, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Joao Felix are both expected to be regular starters in Graham Potter’s lineup when they become available.

With less than 18 months left on his contract and coming off a strong World Cup campaign, there will undoubtedly be teams interested in signing Ziyech.

The Sun reports that Roma are looking to reach an agreement with their Chelsea counterparts.

According to the report, talks have already begun, with Roma aiming for a loan agreement with the option to buy.

A spot in Jose Mourinho’s squad appears likely, with the Portuguese revealing on Sunday that Nicolo Zaniolo has asked to leave Stadio Olimpico.

Mourinho told reporters: “Nicolo Zaniolo has asked to leave the club – but I am not sure that it’s gonna happen. Current proposals are not enough.

“We only need a good proposal to let Zaniolo leave, and we’ve not received it. My feeling is that at the end, he will stay.”
