The FC Barcelona squad has talked about the potential return of Lionel Messi to the Camp Nou this summer over the past several weeks.
The 35-year-old’s return to the Spanish team would be welcomed, according to Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
Furthermore, he spoke about what the Argentine meant to him when appearing on the Catalan program “Gol a Gol.”
“Leo was always spectacular,” Araujo said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“He supported me very well when I got to the first team. He was always very close to me [and] he supported me. I am very fond of him; I hope he can be with us.”
On June 30, Messi’s contract with PSG will expire and the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion will be free to sign with any club.
Barcelona are aware of the importance of the Argentine to them, both financially and on the field. Therefore, it is not surprising that they want him back.

According to a recent source, they are heading in the direction of trying to get Messi after Barcelona made their first offer to the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion, which included a salary of €25m per season and a contract that would last until 2025.
The 2022-23 La Liga winners will also try to fight off non-European teams like Al-Hilal and MLS side Inter Miami, who are allegedly interested in Messi this summer.
