Brazil and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho has revealed he’s still a fan of Man United attacker Wayne Rooney.
Rooney, 31, has struggled for form in the past 18 months as he edges towards the end of his career. However, it’s clear that the striker is still trusted by his managers Jose Mourinho and Gareth Southgate, who regularly select Rooney at club and international level.
It also appears that the Man United captain is well respected by former players with the likes of Ronaldinho, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, revealing he’s always liked Rooney’s style of play.
Ronaldinho told Four Four Two: “Among the English, I still like Wayne Rooney.
“He has skill, shoots well and protects the ball. He is steady – never on the ground. I have always liked his style.”
Rooney has played 16 times in the Premier League starting on just eight occasions. The 31-year-old’s goal return this campaign will frustrate him as he’s only scored twice in the top-flight.
However, in the Red Devils’ last Premier League game, Rooney scored a late equaliser against Stoke which also made him the club’s record goalscorer, overtaking Sir Bobby Charlton.
