Not only did Cristiano Ronaldo score a dynamic hat-trick on Tuesday night as Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid, he also secured his 400th goal for the club, a feat for which he thanked his teammates and fans.
Obviously, one hat-trick in the final stages of the Champions League wasn’t enough for the forward and he added to his trio versus Bayern Munich in the semi-final first leg against Los Rojiblancos.
“It’s a very special achievement, it’s a lot of goals and I did not expect it,” professed the forward on Wednesday. “It’s the result of the whole team’s work, my work, of all the people who work at the club, and the fans.
“I am very happy and I want to try and give my best in the remaining years of my contract, to score goals as always, and to win titles with Real Madrid.”
Effectively with one foot in the final on June 3, Los Blancos need only deny Atletico for 90 more minutes to seal their second successive trip to European football’s biggest showpiece.
“The team was phenomenal,” Ronaldo continued . “Yesterday was further proof that the team is strong and confident.
“Winning 3-0 is spectacular the team’s domination of the pitch demonstrates how fresh we all are. We are very motivated and we want to reach the final of the Champions League
“We have a small advantage and we are one step away from Cardiff. Hopefully it can be done.”
