Ronaldo and Messi lead 55-man FIFA FIFPro World XI nominees

FIFPro have revealed their 55-man final shortlist for the best players in world football over the course of 2017.

A record number of 13 Real Madrid players are on the select list after the club’s unprecedented back-to-back Champions League successes.

FIFPro and its affiliated player associations invite professional footballers worldwide to pick a team of 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 attackers in an all-star 2016-2017 line-up.

25,000 professional footballers took part in the poll with the players who received most votes by each position making the final 55.

At the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London on October 23rd, FIFPro and FIFA will reveal the final 2016-2017 World XI.
