Cristiano Ronaldo has missed out on being named in the top group of La Liga’s greatest ever players following an investigation into the best talents in the division’s history.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi was named in the top five, along with Raul González, César Rodríguez, Telmo Zarra and Enrique Castro, of the best players in the history of La Liga by the Centre for Investigations into the History and Statistics of Spanish Football (CIHEFE).
However the report has not named Ronaldo in their top five, or indeed their top ten, with the iconic Portuguese superstar instead lingering in 23rd on the list.
The study, performed by José Antonio Ortega and was a full analysis of the 9,117 to ever play in the Spanish top flight, sorted players based on a point system.
Ronaldo’s goalscoring efforts for Real have been nothing short of legendary but it appears only moving to Madrid in 2009 has effected his placing.
