Football fans have criticized Piers Morgan, a Cristiano Ronaldo superfan, for saying Lionel Messi is “over-egging” his World Cup victory.
Morgan took a screenshot of Lionel Messi’s Instagram page, which included five images of Argentina’s victory.
And the TV personality’s caption on the post read: “OK, Lionel…we get it, you won the World Cup. You’re slightly over-egging the gloating soufflé now!”
Fans swiftly turned against Morgan, though, once pictures from Ronaldo’s Instagram, which was overflowing with celebratory photos after his Euro 2016 victory, surfaced. And Morgan was slammed by football fans on social media.
One fan tweeted: “Your lover boy when Eder won him Euros. Never once did your arrogant narcissist bf stop. Keep your mouth shut, because all you’re gonna spit is s*** out of it.”
“Imagine being a grown man telling a guy who is a million times more successful than you to stop showing off after winning the World Cup,” a second added. While a third tweeted: “A 57-year-old acting like a teenager!”
And a fourth added: “You need to stop crying too, you don’t police how to live their lives, you should know better!”

Morgan has been outspoken about his stance on the Messi and Ronaldo debate. It was the TV personality who Ronaldo decided to do his bombshell tell-all interview with on the eve of the World Cup.
As a result of the interview, Ronaldo and Manchester United agreed to part ways.
Which has left Ronaldo jobless since Portugal crashed out of the World Cup at the hands of Morocco.
