Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has leapfrogged Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Europe’s all-time top goalscorers chart.
The Real Madrid star has been slow off the mark at club level this season, but the 31-year-old shook off any rustiness for his country and produced two impressive displays over the last few days.
Portugal took on Andorra last week for a 2018 World Cup qualifier and thumped the nine-man side by six goals to nil, with Ronaldo grabbing four of them.
Ronaldo then scored one more on Monday as the European champions defeated the Faroe Islands by the same scoreline, making it five goals in two games for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo now has a total of 66 goals from 135 games for Portugal and that is good enough to push him up to sixth place in the list of Europe’s most prolific internationals, taking him past retired Sweden striker Ibrahimovic.
The former Manchester United No.7 is now just two goals away from the Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane and German legend Gerd Muller, whilst Miroslav Klose is only seven ahead of Ronaldo
