Ronaldo praises Juve fighting spirit

Cristiano Ronaldo has praised Juventus for fighting until the death as they earned a last-gasp victory over Genoa on Wednesday night. The pressure was on the Old Lady to return to the top of the Serie A standings after Inter Milan had won at Brescia on Tuesday night, and they responded well.
Juve were made to work hard for the win though as Genoa, who are struggling so far this season, battled for their live at the Allianz Stadium.
Leonardo Bonucci had put the Bianconeri in front before Christian Kouame levelled matters with a bizarre strike that struck his standing leg and wrong-footed Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Both sides were also reduced to 10 men and it looked as though they would have to settle for a point apiece before two late pieces of drama turned the game on its head.
Ronaldo had a 92nd minute goal ruled out for offside after VAR intervened, but he still had time to snatch the winner with a controversial penalty. “I am very happy,” Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia. “[It was] a very difficult match against an organised team but we are Juventus, the motto is to [fight to] the end. “We are very happy with the three points. We created a lot and we deserved it. Inter ahead in the standings was an extra stimulus.”
Juve have now extended their run of games without a defeat to 13 and are next in action when they make the very short trip to take on Torino in the Turin derby on Saturday.
