Ronaldo Shocked As Team Mate Drinks His £8,000 Bottle Of Petrus

Ronaldo, former Barcelona and Inter Milan star, was shocked when Brazil teammate Vampeta drank a wine meant just for “display.”

Ronaldo recounted the incident on the Brazilian podcast Charla: “I purchased a bottle of Petrus.” I brought it home mostly for its symbolic worth as the world’s most famous wine. “I had no intention of opening it,” he explained.

“Well, Vampeta opened it, took some plastic glasses, poured it, drank it and made a disgusted face, saying ‘it’s damn hot, is there ice in it?”

Vampeta then proceeded to place an ice crystal in each glass.

Horrified

Although Ronaldo believes Vampeta had no idea the Petrus was “special,” he was mortified to see one of the world’s greatest wines being chugged like cheap rubbish.

“I couldn’t believe it!” he exclaimed.

Ronaldo, born in Rio de Janeiro, has expressed on Instagram that football has provided him with opportunities beyond his playing career.

His experience traveling the world for big championships exposed him to luxury dining, drinking, and hospitality, and the striker quickly developed a reputation for partying. He was at the center of the well-known “dressing room” incident in 2006, in which Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello chastised players because the facility “smelled like alcohol”.

Vampeta (actual name Marcos André Batista dos Santos) played for Brazil’s national team from 1998 to 2002, during which time the team won the 1999 Copa América and 2002 FIFA World Cup. His moniker combines the words vampiro (vampire) and capeta (Portuguese slang meaning demon). The footballer has also played alongside Ronaldo for PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan.
