Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney says he would love to see his former club make a daring move for Kylian Mbappe as Tottenham keeps pressing its case for Harry Kane.
In order for Erik ten Hag’s team to contend for big trophies, the D.C. United manager has made it quite plain that they need an elite striker.
He also claimed that Spurs are treating the England captain “as a prisoner” as the 29-year-old continues to consider his options.
Since Kane has yet to win a trophy, Rooney, a major admirer of his former England teammate, thinks the Tottenham star will be aiming for some silver medals in the latter stages of his career.
“I thought it was time to go last season and he stayed,” Rooney told The Athletic.
“Harry’s probably feeling that and knows there are trophies out there for him to win. He has done everything he can for that to try and be at Tottenham.
“Now probably is right for him to move on and it looks like ready for that as well, but we know Tottenham can be quite difficult at times.”
