Wayne Rooney’s son Kai has joined Manchester United’s academy, reports say.
The six-year-old has been attending training sessions for his dad’s side alongside Michael Carrick’s son Jacey.
Both youngsters have been training at the club’s old Cliff training ground in Salford, Greater Manchester, which sees roughly 25 talented youngsters playing for the development squad.
When Rooney, 30, can’t take his son to practice when he’s playing away in the week, his mum Coleen steps in to make sure he gets there, according to The Sun.
A source told the paper: ‘Wayne and Michael really get into it when they bring their boys down.
‘The kids seem to love it and have been coming down regularly in the week to train with the young development squad.
‘It’s a bit funny because both their dads aren’t playing as much anymore but these guys could be the club’s stars of the future.’
United’s development side is made up of top local talent in the area, who are trained and filtered for the club’s older age groups.
Youngsters joining United sign schoolboy forms when they are aged 10 or 11 and if they continue to be successful in the ranks, they sign professional deals at the age of 16.
