Ruben Amorim Might Unleash Fresh Manchester United Onslaught Against Lyon, But It Would Be Wrong

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim fiddling with his attack.

Rotation has been a recurring theme since Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag as United manager last November, with the former Sporting Lisbon manager frequently chopping and changing to deal with injury concerns and a demanding fixture calendar.

For example, against Manchester City on Sunday, Amorim placed Rasmus Hojlund back into the starting lineup at the cost of Joshua Zirkzee, who had begun the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest five days earlier on the bench. Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho assisted him in attack.

Hojlund’s return to the starting lineup marks Amorim’s 16th consecutive game with at least one change to his attack. He last used the same front three in consecutive games when United defeated Arsenal on penalties in the FA Cup and Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League in January. Reported by Manchester Evening News.

On those two occasions, Hojlund was chosen to head the line, assisted by Garnacho and Fernandes. However, since then, Fernandes has contributed more to the club as a No.8, Kobbie Mainoo has played as a No.10, Mason Mount has returned from injury, Hojlund has scored only one goal, albeit to end a goal drought, and Zirkzee has scored twice.

With all of that in mind, it’s no surprise Amorim is still hunting for the appropriate solution. United continue to struggle to produce goals, and it is clear that signing a striker must be the top priority this summer.
