Zirkzee has had a lackluster start to life in England and has been strongly linked to a return to Serie A, where Juventus and Napoli have been mentioned as suitors.
Amorim emphasized his want to retain Zirkzee for the rest of the season, even if he admitted that anything may happen during the transfer window.
“I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training but we don’t know,” Amorim told the media after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
“The window is open and we will see what happens. We just need to focus on training and to take this for the other games.”
According to previous reports, Zirkzee had already expressed his intention to stay with United for at least the remainder of this season.
The Red Devils are also rumored to have told Juventus that they will not be able to recruit him on a low-cost loan agreement, reports 90 min.
Since taking over for Erik ten Hag, the former Sporting CP manager has lost five of United’s past six Premier League games and six of his first 11 games in all competitions.
