In an interview with writer Henry Winter, the English striker stated that he is “ready for a new challenge and the next steps”.
Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of Manchester United’s 2-1 victory against rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim spoke out this morning about Rashford’s comments.
In a news conference this morning, Amorim, who came in at number eleven on FourFourTwo’s ranking of the world’s top managers at the moment, addressed Rashford’s statement that he needs a fresh challenge.
“He’s right,” he said. We have the greatest challenge in football right now, and we’re in a tough spot. All of my players should be prepared, I hope.
Additionally, Amorim stated: “We discuss the present, not the future. Marcus Rashford is a better fit for us. He is a huge talent, which is what this sort of team requires.”
He said that because Rashford had the day off, he had not talked to him since the comments, reports FFT.
Rashford and Garnacho might play if they prepare well, according to Amorim, when Manchester United plays Tottenham in the League Cup quarterfinals on Thursday.
