Arsenal’s wingers may prefer going down the outside due to the Gunners’ strength from corners, according to Manchester United’s head coach Ruben Amorim. Both Arsenal’s goals against United on Wednesday came from corner kicks, with Jurrien Timber opening his Premier League account and William Saliba clinching the victory for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The 2-0 defeat was Amorim’s first as United manager, following a draw with Ipswich and victories over Bodo/Glimt and Everton. It also demonstrated Arsenal’s set-piece strength on both sides, with goals coming from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka’s deliveries. Reported By Mirror .
Amorim acknowledged the opposition’s desire to play to their strengths. On this occasion, Saka and Gabriel Martinelli were on the London side’s flanks, and the visitors were unable to cope.
“You can see that in every one-on-one match Saka and Martinelli play; they often go outside and cross, knowing that if the cross is good, they can score, and if it’s a corner, they can score. “We need to improve in that situation,” Amorim stated following the setback.

In a Match of the Day interview, he acknowledged the importance of set pieces at both ends, with Matthijs de Ligt denied an equaliser by a stunning David Raya stop. “We were committed, but we lost to set pieces. “If Matthijs [de Ligt] scores in that moment, the momentum will change,” he remarked.
“We attempted to play, but they are really organised team and it’s hard to score. I felt the players were in control of the game, the set pieces changed the game in the second half.”
“The game opened up a little bit and we looked a real threat. Very pleased. It’s a joy to play in this stadium with that energy, it’s something incredible.”
