Mohamed Salah will be thrilled to have won his second Premier League title, but if the criteria had been different, the Egyptian might have already won three.
Following Liverpool’s 5-1 thumping of Tottenham, the 32-year-old forward, who won his first title in 2020, has now added another to his collection this season.
With 28 Premier League goals so far to spearhead Liverpool’s title challenge, Salah has been instrumental in the team’s success. He scored again on Sunday against Tottenham.
Salah will be eager to add even more trophies to his portfolio after signing a new contract with Liverpool to allay concerns about his future. However, he may feel let down that he doesn’t have three Premier League medals.

He played 11 games when he joined Chelsea in the 2013–14 campaign, helping the team finish third. According to The Mirror, under Jose Mourinho, the Blues won the league the next season, but Salah was not awarded the medal because he only made three appearances.
The Egypt international missed out on a medal because players must make at least five appearances, but he is not the first well-known player to be passed over even if he helped a team win a title.
Having only made one appearance for Manchester United during the 1993–94 season, when 10 was the key number at the time, Gary Neville famously missed out on two medals during his career.
At the other end of his career, Neville retired midway through the 2009–10 season after playing just four games.
Owen Hargreaves, Wes Brown, Nemanja Matic, Scott Parker, and Micah Richards were the other known players to have famously missed out on a Premier League winners’ medal.
