Harry Redknapp has claimed that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player that would get into Tottenham Hotspur‘s starting line-up.
Arsenal have finished above their North London rivals for the past two decades but that run is in serious danger of coming to an end this campaign.
Tottenham are currently second in the table, 14 points ahead of Arsenal, although they have played a game more, and Redknapp feels that his former club have a much stronger team.
Redknapp, who managed Tottenham between 2008 and 2012, wrote in his column for the London Evening Standard: “Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player who would get into Tottenham’s starting line-up.
“Spurs look like they are in a different league and that’s how far the balance of power has swung after more than 20 years of the Gunners dominating north London.
“The main reason is Arsenal have wasted millions on average players over the past few years. It was easy to see how good Sanchez was during his time at Barcelona and Arsene Wenger deserves credit for pulling that deal off but the rest of the players he has brought in over the past two or three years haven’t been good enough.”
Although some of his recent performances have been substandard, Sanchez has been largely impressive this campaign, as demonstrated by the fact that he is amongst the nominees for the PFA player of the year award.
Despite Sanchez having made a major impact this season, the Chilean lags behind Tottenham’s Son Heung-min in terms of goals scored per game in the Premier League this season, while Christian Eriksen has provided more assists and created a higher amount of chances per match.
