Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Alexis Sanchez has become a complete player now that he is adding more assists to his game.
Sanchez has been the Gunners’ outstanding performer this campaign and produced an excellent performance in the 4-0 victory over Stoke City at the weekend as he both scored and provided an assist.
Wenger said: “I think overall at the start he was, as a player, mainly focused on scoring goals and he developed his assist potential with us very well.
“He plays now in a position where he can provide as well as score. I believe he has become a complete player and developed very well here at Arsenal.
“It’s an exceptional achievement to score and provide in double figures. That is to be a special player.”
The Chilean has been prolific this season, scoring 21 goals and providing ten assists.
Although some supporters have expressed frustration with Sanchez’s tendency to squander possession in dangerous areas, there is little doubt about the 28-year-old’s quality and what he brings to the side.
Sanchez has played in several positions this season, including up front and out wide, but he is currently thriving as one of two players operating behind the main striker.
It remains to be seen whether Sanchez will still be at Arsenal next season as he has just over a year remaining on his current contract at the club.
