Sanchez set to play for Chile against Uruguay despite Arsenal objection

Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has announced that Alexis Sanchez is available for their World Cup qualifier against Uruguay and insists he is taking no risks by playing the Arsenal forward.

The 27-year-old suffered a hamstring injury last Tuesday but Chile’s medical team claimed that it was only a ‘low grade tear’.

Ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Uruguay, Sanchez trained on Sunday with the rest of his Chile team-mates but his right thigh was heavily bandaged.

Last week, Arsene Wenger was critical of Chile’s handling of Sanchez’s injury, claiming that a ‘suicidal decision’ by his national team could sideline the player for months.

But in his press conference on Monday, Pizzi has dismissed suggestions that Chile are being irresponsible over Sanchez’s condition.

‘Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal & Claudio Bravo are available for tomorrow’s game against Uruguay,’ said Pizzi.

‘Sanchez is one hundred percent. He’s trained well.

‘At no time we have received pressure from any club. Not Arsenal or Bayern.

‘The health of the players is paramount, we are very responsible.

‘We do not risk to anyone who is not in a position to play.’
