Sancho insists he is happy at Dortmund as he casts doubt on Manchester United move

Jadon Sancho has appeared to cast further doubt over his possible summer switch to Manchester United after insisting that he is happy at Borussia Dortmund.

The England star has been linked with a £108million move to United but the two clubs remain at loggerheads over the fee.

Sancho, who played 45 minutes in Dortmund’s pre-season friendly win over Rheindorf Altach in Austria on Wednesday, is still in talks with United over signing a five-year contract with the club.

Last week, the deal appeared to be heading in the right direction but talks have stalled with United baulking at Sancho’s wage demands and Dortmund’s valuation of the winger.

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc declared on Monday that Sancho will remain with them next season and the 20-year-old has now underlined his happiness at the club.

Speaking to BVB-TV on Wednesday, Sancho said: ‘I love playing with this lot. It is a special bunch.

‘We’ve got some special young players coming up. I am really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.

‘I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors. I am happy for them.’

Despite his tender years, Sancho has established himself as a leader in the dressing room after another brilliant season in Germany.

Teenagers Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham will aspire to achieve the success Sancho has and hope to follow in his footsteps at Dortmund.

The England star recognises he has a role to play in helping the younger players and is relishing the responsibility despite the continued speculation around his immediate future.

He added: ‘I joined [Dortmund] when I was 17,. Some of the lads are the same age now. I’ve been there and done that.

‘I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.’
