This summer, Saudi clubs plan to return for yet another massive raid on the Premier League.
And the star player for Liverpool, Mo Salah, will almost certainly be the Saudi Pro League’s top target and prize. It coincides with the statement made by the Saudi Pro League’s top executive that they are committed to the game and not just a one-time event after investing £700 million on new players last summer, including Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves and Brazilian forward Neymar.
They also lavished money on N’Golo Kante, a star player in the Premier League, and Jordan Henderson, a former midfielder for Liverpool. “This is a long-term investment,” Saudi Pro League vice-chair Saad Al Lazeez said at the Financial Times’ Business of Football Summit. We are not here just for the summer.
Mirror notes “We are happy with the progress we have made thus far. As part of a larger plan to diversify the economy, the kingdom hopes to invest heavily in football, and he stated, “In fact, I think we are a bit ahead of schedule.”
Although Henderson did not work, Al Lazeez did not anticipate that his departure for Ajax after just six months would turn off others. He remarked, “You don’t expect all of them to stay.” “What a wonderful guy he is. Simply put, it didn’t work out. That is existence. He would continue to be “one of the best signings that we made for the Saudi Pro League,” before adding.
Salah’s former Liverpool teammates, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and Georginio Wijnaldum, are among those who are still in Saudi Arabia. Al-Ittihad’s £150 million offer for Salah was turned down by Liverpool last summer.
Salah’s Future
But with Salah’s contract entering its final year and the possibility that he could leave for nothing in 2025 if he decides he does not want to stay at Anfield past his current deal, Liverpool are in a different position going into this summer.

The departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season will raise additional concerns about Salah’s future. A lot may depend on Liverpool’s position regarding the appointment of a new sporting director and the new manager taking over for Klopp.
