Schalke hope for long-term Kenny arrangement

Schalke sporting director Jochen Schneider says the club are interested in keeping Jonjoe Kenny beyond this season. The defender joined on a season-long loan deal from Everton in the summer and has gone on to make 11 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit under ex-Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner.
He scored his first goal for the club at the end of August in their 3-0 win against Hertha Berlin at the Veltins Arena.
Schalke currently lie seventh in the table, only four points adrift of top spot in what has been an incredibly tight division so far this term.
And, Kenny has been able to excel with the 22-year-old turning in several impressive performances.
Now, Schneider is already looking to the future and says he would like to see Kenny stay on longer than his proposed year-long loan deal. “We are happy that we have him. Not only as a player but as a person of a type that suits Schalke. I hope we will have the chance to keep him longer,” he said.
Last month, the ex-England Under-21 international also refused to rule out staying in Germany on a longer-term deal. “It’s still too early for that decision. I don’t want to live in the future. Whatever happens, happens. Now I’m definitely giving everything for Schalke,” he told Bundesliga.com.
A permanent exit may not be favoured by Everton however, as they still see Kenny as a player for the future.
The Liverpudlian has made 40 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions since making his debut on the final day of the 2015-16 season, in a 3-0 win against Norwich.
Seamus Coleman is now into his 30s and has shown signed of declining while Djibril Sidibe is only on loan having made a summer move from Monaco.
