Schwab three clear in Turkey

Matthias Schwab will take a three-shot lead into the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open after Saturday’s six-under-par 66 saw him reach 18-under par. The Austrian mixed six birdies with one eagle and two bogeys in Antalya to add a 66 to rounds of 65 and 67 and put daylight between himself and the chasing pack with just one round to go. There are some big-name stars lurking at -15 just three strokes off the lead, however, with American Patrick Reed joining English duo Ross Fisher and Tyrrell Hatton plus Scotland’s Robert Macintyre and Benjamin Hebert of France on that mark. It looks set to be a fascinating final day on the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course and Schwab insists he will not change his mindset as he goes in search of a maiden European Tour triumph. “The game plan is going to be the same as it’s been the last three days,” he said. “The course is gettable and there are a lot of birdies out there, so I’ll just stay aggressive because pars won’t be enough.” It seems likely that the winner will come from one of the above players as there is another two-shot gap back to Scott Jamieson, Erik van Rooyen and Victor Perez, who share seventh place on 13-under. English veteran Lee Westwood is in a group of five players on -12 but seems to have left himself with too much to do to bridge the gap to the leader on Sunday.
