After weeks of speculation, United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has finally spoken out on his future.
The German, who has been frozen out of the team under manager José Mourinho says United will be his last club in Europe as it is the only one he respects as much as Bayern Munich.
The midfielder only moved to Old Trafford last summer as Louis van Gaal signed the German World Cup winner from Bayern Munich – where he had spent his entire career – for just £6.6 million.
However, Schweinsteiger struggled with injury and fitness as he played just 18 times during his debut Premier League campaign, while featuring just once in the top flight in the second half of the season.
Mourinho replaced Van Gaal in the summer and immediately made it clear that Schweinsteiger wasn’t in his plans, and the German has delivered an update on his future via his Twitter account.
He appears to suggest he has no intention of leaving Old Trafford, as you can see below:

“Manchester United will be my last club in Europe,” wrote the 32-year-old. “I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich.
“I will be ready, if the team needs me. This is all I can say about the current situation.
“I want to thank the fans for the amazing support over the recent weeks.”
Already popular among fans for how he is handling his current situation, this will no doubt endear him to supporters further.
Schweinsteiger, who scored just one goal in the Premier League last season, hasn’t been included in any of United’s matchday squads so far this season but was spotted at Old Trafford on Friday night.
With no real interest in his signature at the moment, Schweinsteiger’s future is in limbo but he’s made it clear that he is available to United if they need him.
