Seagulls poised for Trossard fitness boost

Leandro Trossard is likely to return to action for Brighton when Everton visit the Amex Stadium on Saturday. The 24-year-old, who arrived from Belgian side Genk in the summer, has been absent suffering a groin problem on international duty in early September.
The Belgium international has been working his way back to full fitness and seemed set to feature at Aston Villa on Saturday.
But head coach Graham Potter opted to keep him under wraps for another week to avoid risking any setbacks.
Trossard, who has one goal in three Premier League appearances so far, is now set to come into the squad for the game against the Toffees and is likely to replace Aaron Mooy.
The Australia international was red-carded for two bookable offences at the weekend as the Seagulls blew a 21st-minute lead given to them by Adam Webster and went down 2-1 at Villa Park.
Potter said: “We’ll see how this week goes, so hopefully he’ll have another full week’s training, and we can make an assessment then.”
The 44-year-old was boosted by Solly March’s comeback against Villa and the midfielder has suffered no ill-effects from a minor thigh problem which had been hampering him of late.
Indeed, Bernardo and Jose Izquierdo are the only Brighton players now receiving treatment for injury issues so Potter should have plenty of options at his disposal to face Everton.
Brighton are currently 16th in the Premier League, but just a point clear of Newcastle in the final relegation place.
They will face a Toffees side that sits one point and a place above them after they ended a run of three consecutive league defeats by recording a 2-0 win against West Ham at Goodison Park on Saturday.
