Thierry Henry has backed Manchester United to emulate The Invincibles and go an entire Premier League season unbeaten.
Arsenal famously went through the 2003/04 season without losing a single match (26 wins and 12 draws across 38 matches played) as they romped to a 13th league title and third under Arsene Wenger.
Central to their efforts was a certain Henry, who ended that campaign with the Golden Boot (30 goals), and despite the league being a game old he’s seen parallels with that historic side and Mourinho’s charges., who were impressive in their 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
“Do I see the Invincibles in this Man Utd team? Oh yeah,” the all-time leading Arsenal goalscorer told Sky Sports.
“When I see them especially on Sunday I saw that. I saw power, pace, guys with ideas and legs.
“They can cover the ground really quickly, that’s very important. We had that at Arsenal.
“Mourinho likes bringing players he knows are going to be able to play the way he likes to play.”
Even if United don’t go the entire season unbeaten there’s an element of confidence among supporters when you consider his impeccable second season record in charge of a club.
A well-travelled coach, Mourinho has won everywhere he’s been at since establishing himself at Porto in the early 2000s, and remains the only manager to win the top-flight in England, Spain and Italy.
The task facing him is to re-establish United as not only a force to be reckoned with in England but also Europe.
Signing a three-year contract last summer, the rebuilding process was expected to be gradual, but the Portuguese coach has already delivered a Europa League and League Cup titles.
However, the Red Devils finished sixth last term, but as history has shown his teams always have their best season once he’s had a year to establish himself.
Porto and Inter won the league and European Cup double while in both spells at Chelsea and Real Madrid saw him lift their respective championships.
