Dutch midfield legend Clarence Seedorf believes that Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is a “fantastic” talent and has tipped the 18-year- old to be a surprise package at Euro 2016.
Rashford has been included in Roy Hodgson’s final England squad for the tournament after making a tremendous impact at United, and Seedorf has been hugely impressed by the youngster’s performances.
As reported by The Sun, Seedorf said: “He is fantastic – a very talented guy.
“But you need to slow it down. You should not be adding pressure.
“If he can just be used without pressure I think he’s going to be a surprise.
“England are going to do well.”
Rashford, who signed a new contract with United yesterday, has caught the eye with his clinical finishing and impressive tactical awareness.
The youngster faces a battle for a starting berth in the England side, with Hodgson also able to call upon the likes of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge, but Rashford, who created six chances in the Premier League this season, could still have a major part to play at the tournament.
The prospect underlined his credentials by scoring less than three minutes into his international debut against Australia last Friday, and could receive another opportunity to prove his worth when the Three Lions take on Portugal on Thursday.
Following the Portugal game, England will turn their attention to the final tournament, with Hodgson’s team taking on Russia, Wales and Slovakia in the group stages.
The Three Lions enjoyed a hugely impressive qualifying campaign, but the spectre of the 2014 World Cup- when they were eliminated in the group stages- continues to loom large.
