Leicester City midfielder, James Maddison is reportedly set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international was on the radar of Newcastle United. But it now seem Spurs are on the verge of unveiling him as their player after a reported fee of £40 million was agreed with Leicester City.
Tottenham became the front-runners in the race to sign the 26-year-old. This is after Newcastle switched their attention to signing Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Milan last week. Maddison has remained a target. Leicester had intended to get £60 million for Maddison. But they were obliged to accept less.
According to Sky Sports, a complete agreement regarding the transfer fee and personal details had been reached on Tuesday evening. And Maddison will likely have a medical examination today.

After five years at the King Power Stadium, where he made just over 200 appearances and registered 55 goals and 41 assists, Maddison is leaving.
This week, Spurs advanced their interest. And it is anticipated that they will sell Harry Winks to Leicester.
After a challenging season, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be hoping that the addition of Maddison improves the atmosphere at the club. Levy is also determined to thwart Bayern Munich’s efforts to get Harry Kane.

Kane wants to play for Thomas Tuchel’s team. And Bayern made a £60 million proposal for him on Tuesday. Even though the 29-year-old’s contract expires next summer.
Spurs are adamant about keeping him, and they won’t likely take less than £100 million for the England captain. Kane will see his move to Bayern as an opportunity to win his first trophy.
